what do you think when you drive by a cattle farm and breath through your nose?
i think of brisket, rib eye, T-bones, ribs, and my leather coat
well everything tasty has its cons, gardens have weeds and bugs, cattle farms smell like sbit
trolling is fun especially when theres a ashole on the other end
Having lived on a cattle farm all my life, all I can think of is the countless times I have been out in the corrals checking on cattle, rounding up bulls and shipping them to the vet to get castrated, feeding them silage and hay all winter and spring, and walking out to the pasture to check up on them to see how they're doing or just simply to "get away from it all" and hang around them for a while, listening to them graze and the satisfaction of seeing them eating well on the pasture we had. The smells also remind me of times when I had to help fix fence, or round up the herd to get them in the chute for their vaccinations, not to mention the times that we had to deal with a bunch of escape artists if the chains on the gates weren't done up properly, lol.
It also says to me that that's the best manure you can get for your garden; it's free, "home-grown" (if you know what I mean), and all you gotta do is either get a bucket full of manure with the tractor and dump it on the garden before working it in, or getting the wheelbarrow out and hauling it to the garden myself. Hauling manure was also done to clean out the pens, and put a few dozen loads on the feilds and pastures 'most every spring. It's a fun job.
I don't think of the end-result of having a slab of steak for dinner as much as having to work with the beefers themselves when I drive by a cattle farm and smell the "lovely" smells. But really, cooking up a steak on the barbeque from a steer that was home-raised on the farm on just pasture, along with home-grown vegetables like lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, corn, spinach, beans, peas, etc., beats any steak AND produce from the grocery store any day. There just ain't nothin' better!!
